Finds~Grey Plaid and Gold Frame

Every Saturday since the beginning of May my 14 year old son and I get up early and head off to local garage sales. He cuts the garage sale classifieds out of the newspaper and makes me promise to set the alarm. Some weeks we buy only an item or two, other times we find more.

A lady in our neighbourhood was selling this grey plaid throw for 25 cents. I did a double take when I saw the sticker. She said it was a gift she hadn't used. I washed and dried it and it is still super soft. It will be great for this fall and winter.

This gold framed print was $5 and my guys would like me to keep it as is but I would love to make it into a chalkboard. I love the chunky frame.
I also found a brand new in box Pampered Chef 4 cup batter bowl/measuring bowl for 50 cents. I have the large one and use it tons.

It is always a balance to make sure we only buy items that we need or can see a use for, otherwise we would end up needing a sale of our own. We are looking forward to getting out again this Saturday morning. Have you found any good deals lately?

  6. Oh Elizabeth what great things you are sharing this week at THT. I am in LOVE with your picture. I am with your men and would keep it just as is but you are right too that the frame is fabulous and would make a great chalk board. Is there any way you could take the pic out and replace it with a piece you could do a chalk board on? Thanx for partying at my place.

  7. You're lucky to have a partner on your garage sale excursions! That picture and frame scream chalkboard to me too! Not too many sales around here so I'm hoping the season will "warm up" soon :)

  8. Your son is a treasure - what a lad! I made a chalkboard from a similar frame & it hangs in my entrance hall so a good call on your part. The rug is lovely for cooler weather - great finds!

  9. Fantastic buys. I haven't found much lately as garage sales seem to be dwindling away for some reason, perhaps because a lot of the Saturdays have been rainy.

  11. Wow! You scored big time!!! I love everything you found. Love the throw. You can't even buy the material to make one for that! Love the picture. I kind of agree with your boys about keeping the picture inside it. It's really pretty! It also goes with your agriculture/farm theme. The Pampered Chef item will come in handy too. I have the bigger one you have as well and use it all the time.

  12. I haven't been to garage sales yet, I have been too busy. But hopefully I can find one tomorrow despite the threat of rain.
Have a great weekend and fun while garage sailing!

  14. I love your grey blankie, but I love your old crockery even more! There haven't been many garage sales here lately... we're having our own next week, so hopefully we'll draw a crowd! I'm unloading. I'm becoming detached to many of my things...I'm okay with it. Maybe someone else will get to enjoy them awhile. Have a great father's day weekend!

  16. This is the sweetest thing ever! I LOVE that your 14 year old actually clips the classifieds out of the newspaper, and makes you promise to set the alarm. What fun to go "shopping" with your son every Saturday. And what great finds, I love them all and would have scooped them up too!
