Robin's Egg Storage Box and More Snow

I am enjoying adding more blues to our home, this time a lovely robin's egg on a solid pine breadbox.

The box was a clear solid pine piece that I picked up for $3.99 at a local thrift store. From the new condition and markings on the bottom it looks like it was a craft sale purchase that someone decided not to use. The before photo (and yesterday's dresser before) are misplaced so I will share how it looked before distressing.

I used acrylic craft paint and then distressed it, finishing with a paste wax. The knob came with it.

Right now it is in our basement kitchen with not the best lighting. I plan to use it in our family room to store usb and camera cords as soon as I find a larger computer table.

We got that second storm overnight, a rain snow mix.

These are photos in our neighbourhood and on my drive to work this morning. The snow is very wet and heavy.

At least the roads were a bit better today. The plows hadn't reached too many sidestreets by early morning, but the main roads were fairly clear.

Kind of pretty with the snow coating all the trees and bushes and although some are very weighted down, hopefully they will bounce back. Pretty as it is, I am looking forward to spring!

I am sharing this at the following link parties...

  5. You did a great job on the old bread box Elizabeth. Very pretty. The snow sure looks wet and heavy. The storm is quieting down here but it's still windy. Pamela

  7. That is a pretty blue, Elizabeth! And what pretty snow (I am envious - it is 44 and windy here in Georgia - cold with no snow!)

  9. Robin's Egg blue is such a perfect blue, isn't it? Happy, sweet, and so feminine! It really turned that box into a charming little treasure. :) We got nailed by about 5" of wet, heavy snow, too. Luckily, alot of it will melt this next week as the temps raise to 40. Yep...spring is hovering near! :)

  10. Oh...look at all that snow...all I'm seeing today is white sand (it's cold here...hoping it's our last cold weekend).

    Blessings,

  13. I can't get over how much snow you have. If we had that much, our schools would be closed! Remember we live where there is rarely snow and it just upsets everyone around here! LOL! I love that shade of blue on the bread box. The distressing makes it just right.
