Our Winter Porch

We made some slight changes to our Christmas porch to transition it to a winter porch.

The mixed pine cuttings are still nice and fresh outdoors so the only thing I had to do was to remove the gold balls from the planter on the white farmhouse bench. The rustic wood stars, pinecones and burlap bow will work nicely for winter.

Even the sap bucket on the chippy old window fits in nicely with the "Let It Snow" cutout and another burlap bow.

And a Canadian winter and skates go hand in hand. The red and black buffalo check ribbon reminds me of a warm snuggly blanket or flannel sheets.

This wood bear sign with matching buffalo check scarf is staying to watch over the porch until spring.

I love no cost decor! Our weather is warming up for a few days and the snow is starting to melt but the temps are expected to drop again next week. It is only January, and we are sure to have a lot more winter ahead of us.

  1. It looks lovely and I so wish I could do something similar but our "porch" is a huge pile of snow that requires never-ending shoveling. Great idea to transition like that.

  2. Hi Elizabeth,
Your Winter porch is so cozy!
The skates are a nice touch all season long... Yes, our January thaw is supposed to arrive for the weekend, warm temperatures and rain, I hope the sun sticks around though instead that would be nice.
    All the Best,

  3. I am sure the bear will do a nice job in watching the porch :)love those skates

  4. Elizabeth,
I did the same thing this past week with 40 + temps on the Prairie! Removed the red berries and red & white checked bows and added rustic metal snowflakes and pinecone wreaths and sprigs!!!
What a difference a little time and NO money can make!!! Thanks for sharing your sweet porch!!!

  5. So pretty. Luv the skates :-)
    Cheers, Gee

  6. Looks Great Elizabeth!! Your collection can stay out till Spring... The way the temps are going we could have spring weather on Saturday....

  7. How cozy. How sweet. You and I have a lot of the same tastes. Especially the burlap bow and greenery! My front door wreath/cone/basket thing has a burlap bow on it and greenery in it.
Can I come in for a cup of tea?

  8. It looks so nice, I love all the greenery and burlap:)

  9. Your front porch looks so nice Elizabeth. I love the elements you used for the winter months. We have a lot of snow here but it's been quite mild this week which is a nice change from the bitter cold. Blessings, Pamela

  17. That all looks so good. I couldn't decorate like that here because we have such mild winters (usually). Today is warm and muggy with a bit of rain. No coat is even needed! I love your little bear plaque welcoming your guests too.
