Sorting for a Garage Sale

I have decided to have a garage sale this weekend and the sorting and organizing has begun.

This is just the first pile of stuff picked and priced. I love my collections, but I am trying hard to only buy things that fit my 'loves' and not just 'likes' because they are a good deal. We regularly take bags and boxes of items to the local Salvation Army, but this time I am digging a little deeper. Being a little harder on myself and letting things go. And it feels good. No clothing or toys, just home accessories and small furniture pieces. So even though it is more work I am planning a garage sale for Saturday morning. The weather forecast is great and I hope to put the profits towards a new man-door for our garage. Do you have yard sales or donate your used items, or like us a combination of both.

  1. I see some ruffled plates I would love to have, but don't need, if I was closer! lol I usually donate but this weekend our church choir is having a fundraiser yard sale so, yes, it's kind of donating to a good cause and I've been purging...a bit. lol I hope you have a successful sale!

  2. Oh, I would love to come to your garage sale, but I guess it's just a little too far to travel! Looks like you're parting with some wonderful items.
I usually donate, but lately I've been setting aside stuff for a yard sale.

  4. I donate clothes, and break plates and so on before I get a chance to donate or sell :-D! I do love garage sales, however!

  5. What is it about garage sale, I just LOVE going to them! Looks like you have some good treasures there and will do very well. Saturday morning, go grab yourself a Timmy's, relax and then go get that new door. Diane

  6. My dining room and front porch are loaded with things for "the garage sale" We are waiting for help from our grown children and families. Unfortunately they are all very busy so we wait in hope. It is terrible to get older and less able to do the things you would like to do. I will take several bags of stuff to Vinny's (St. Vincent de Paul thrift store)

  7. Good for you! I've been letting things go too. Even things I love, because that's mostly what I have. Boy it's hard, but then it DOES feel really good! I have a long way to go. Best of luck with your sale!

  9. I am doing the same thing - the 30th. If I lived near you, I would purchase those ruffly plates on your table. How cute!
