My Pottery Barn Look Alike

I had a pleasant surprise when I was poking around the Pottery Barn website today.
I stumbled upon this Pottery Barn Paned Foundry Mirror that is a pretty close look alike to the pine framed mirror I painted last weekend for our guest bedroom. PB describes "a warehouse window, its history expressed in layers of chipped and weathered paint, inspired our vintage industrial mirror." It costs $239.65 Canadian on the PB website. Yikes!
My version is a bit bigger and a whole lot cheaper.
My mirror cost $10 at a garage sale and I had all the paint and wax on hand. I wasn't aware of the PB version when I painted mine, but I am happy to discover that I have a PB look alike on my diy budget. Wishing you a great weekend! We are all feeling well now and I'm looking forward to working on some projects this weekend.

I'm sharing this with...

  1. What a deal! Yes I love PB but I have to say some of their things are way over inflated in prices! Your mirror looks exactly like it! Thanks for sharing!

  2. Great mirror! I did this once years ago {before blogs} and I had it up for a really long time, too. I guess window mirrors are classics! They have windows galore at our local antique mart that just beg for projects like this to be done to them.

  8. Gosh! You were on to something great and didn't even know it. Yours looks the same and I like your cost much better! Yours is more interesting too since you didn't it buy it "mass produced".

  9. I have the same mirror as you! I think I picked up mine at WalMart 15 years ago! lol Mine, unfortunately, doesn't look as pretty because it needs the paint job that you did to yours. Thanks for the inspiration!

  16. FABULOUS! I'm new to painting old things out to look old :-). So my techniques and desired results are not yet where I want them to be. You mentioned using wax. I've read that in other places too. Tell me about wax. Where do I get it, how is it applied. Do I paint and sand first, or neither? Thnx.
