More Fall in the Kitchen

We are hosting a large family gathering for Thanksgiving this weekend. The dinner will be served buffet style so I decided to add some Fall decor to the oak buffet and hutch in our kitchen.

The kitchen shelves got a Fall makeover here and I continued the white, natural and orange colour scheme, this time using more whites and adding some sparkle with mercury glass votives and footed bowl.

My vintage kitchen scale and bread box stayed with some pinecones added for texture. A vintage crochet dresser scarf handstitched by my paternal grandmother many many years ago adds more textile softness. The simple white ceramic pumpkin with metal leaves was found at a cute shop set up at the Erin Fair last year.

I added some earthy tones with large pinecones in the footed mercury glass bowl and added orange pumpkin pie scented candles to the votive holders.

The old pudding mold bowls were found for less than a dollar each at yard sales. Simple and vintage with a touch of sparkle. One thing I have learned about our home this week is that I need more pieces with a vertical surface to decorate.

  1. I love the natural colours you used on your sideboard and on the kitchen shelves. I kind of just let orange explode all over the place during October and then reign it in again in November.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

  2. OOh....It's all so pretty! Simple and pretty!

  3. I love the white, silver and a bit of natural decorations!

    Happy Thanksgiving to you!

PS When my son played hockey, this weekend was always the big weekend for "ice breaker" tournaments in British Columbia... I always thought that would be so difficult to manage hockey games AND a big turkey dinner! Does this happen for you all too?

  4. Love the color scheme! Those little footed bowls are the cutest things!

  5. Looks like you're all ready for a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. Hope you'll share some family pics of the occasion when it's all done.

  6. Everything looks so lovely, just perfect for a holiday meal. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

  7. I love that white bread box! It looks great along side that old scale. Those big pine cone look so pretty in that mercury bowl. It all looks great together!

  8. Your cabinet looks wonderful, I love what you have done. I adore your little vintage scale, I found one for myself today! I like the way you have it with the napkins on it. Thanks for the inspiration.
    Hugs, Cindy

  9. Your hutch looks so ready for Fall. I'm loving the pinecones in your silver bowl. That's a winner in my book. Silver and pinecones. Two of my favorite things.

  10. Great Fall touches! It would be great to have you link to Seasonal Sundays.
