Kitchen Shelves for Fall

This upcoming weekend is Thanksgiving so after work today I decided to add some Fall colour and texture to our kitchen.

I love the blue and white accessories on the kitchen shelves for summer but it was time for a seasonal change. I decided on a white, brown and orange colour scheme.

The old wooden spools were added for colour and their rustic patina. The orangey-yellow plate (Pier1 several years ago) was layered over the white platter for a pop of colour. Pumpkin soup servers (also from Pier1) add more fall colour.

I added crocheted doilies for some textile softness and the cream pillar candle (with flecks of orange) for a bit of height.

The faux-carved wood candle on the top shelf was a gift from a colleague and has a lovely prayer of thanks perfect for Thanksgiving.

Having a mostly neutral background in our home makes me feel more comfortable adding seasonal changes and little pops of colour. With Thanksgiving this weekend in Canada, our Halloween decor will come out later in the month.
