That is a beautiful island, Elizabeth. I always thought it would be neat to have a really old store counter as an island. Would need to have a huge kitchen for that.
I don't have an island either - just island envy. I think I would want one with bookshelves at one end and an overhang with stools pulled up. I like the contrast, in your photo, between the wood island and the painted cupboards.
I have been planning to make a few islands like that. I think a couple of drawers above the doors would be useful. I wonder what the top of that one is? Maybe butcher block?
Oooh I like that too. We're thinking of having an island in the kitchen rather than a table, someday, when all the other reno's are done. I'm going to keep this one on file. Thanks!
No island here - One thing I miss about our old house. That is a gorgeous picture - I adore the old wood and would love to have one...I'll keep living through your pictures =)
I really LOVE getting comments and read each one. They truly make me smile! If you have a question I will email you. Due to a huge increase in spam comments I have enabled comment moderation but I will post all friendly comments. Have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by!

Love it! I often think about ripping out my "builder" island and replacing with something cool like your picture. Maybe someday...
